Script Writing

'As Leaves Fall'

On Wednesday 11 October 2017

An engaging creative writing course with talented former Cheshire poet laureate, Joy Winkler. Joy describes this course as “a great chance to take inspiration from the outstanding gardens at Tatton as Autumn leaves change colour and fall. In this creative writing workshop, we will explore ideas of emotions invoked by seasonal change: happiness and sadness; beauty and decay. Setting the scene is often the first thing we do in a piece of writing so we will look at the actual landscape during Autumn and reflect on how to portray the detail of landscapes in other seasons of the year.” A complimentary notebook and pen is provided for each participant. This event must be pre-booked.

Hedgelaying

An Introduction to Hedgelaying

On Sunday 15 October 2017

A one day introductory course to hedge-laying. Hedge-laying is the ancient craft of creating a living, natural boundary to a livestock field or garden. Using little more than a chopping tool called a billhook, it is the natural old-fashioned way to stock-proof your field for sheep or cattle. On this very hands-on course, our experienced farm staff Ben Edwards and Sam Walton will work alongside you to create a new laid hedge. This event must be pre-booked.

Toddler Kiddy Cook

Toddler Kiddy Cook

On Thursday 19 October 2017

Summer’s nearly here and what better way to get your toddler interested in fabulously fresh food than a trip to Tatton Park's walled garden, to pick your own ingredients for a delicious seasonal recipe? Picking your own fruit and vegetables is the best way to get the freshest and most delicious foods from field to fork and children get to see first hand how they are produced. Tatton Park has been working with Kiddy Cook for a number of years now, offering sessions for slightly older children. Due to popular demand, we have now created a 90 minute session for toddlers and parents/carers to 'pick and cook' together. Recommended for children aged between 2 and 6 years old. Please contact Nikki Geddes at hale@kiddycook.co.uk or on 07976619648

Can you think of a more autumnal flavour than the humble apple? From crumbles to pies, sauces to chutneys, apples and autumn go hand in hand. This explains why National Apple Day always falls around this time of year. In honour of this year’s apple day, children will be picking apples from Tatton’s orchard and taking them back to the Victorian Still Room where they’ll be making a delicious apple crumble and hearty soup (with a twist). As part of this session, the children will also get a tour of the Mansion House with the Tatton Housekeeper. For more information or to book, please contact Nikki on 07976619648 or at hale@kiddycook.co.uk
