Amazed by Science

From Saturday 28 May 2016 to Sunday 5 June 2016

Join us this half-term and bank holiday weekend as we celebrate science, technology and engineering as part of Cheshire’s Amazed By Science Festival 2016. There is one activity per day at the Farm and pre-bookable workshops on 28th May and 1st June in the gardens. Please note that the activities themselves are free, but you will need to pay park entry and admission charges to the attraction of your choice.

Learn the fundamentals of off-road skills and explore farmland trails and woodland singletrack with Tatton Park's Rangers. Bring a packed lunch. Own bike and cycling helmet compulsory. Please note that adult accompaniment is not required for this event, but an emergency contact number is essential. This event is recommended for children aged 8 and above. Roald Dahl Willow Weaving

On Wednesday 1 June 2016

This exciting family friendly event will give you and your child the opportunity to work with a professional willow artist in Tatton Park's beautiful gardens. You will contribute towards making a giant Mrs Twit structure, which will be displayed in the gardens for the remainder of the Roald Dahl year, as well as making your own bird sculpture to take home - inspired by the clever birds from this hilarious tale. The session is hands on, fun and gives children their first taster of this special craft. The ticket fee includes park entry (usually £6) and garden entry (usually £10), which means you can explore the three tremendous Roald Dahl trails available in the gardens during your visit. The activity is suitable for children aged 6 and above

Amazed by Science

Amazed by Science - Bugs in the Garden

On Wednesday 1 June 2016

Join us for an interactive science workshop during Amazed by Science week. On 1st June, a bug hunt in the Orchard where you will have the chance to find and classify the mini-beasts lurking in the undergrowth! The workshop itself is free of charge, but you will still need to pay both park and garden entrance. National Trust members have free entry into the gardens, but all visitors pay park entry. This event should be viewed as part of the experience when visiting the gardens. Recommended for children aged 8 and above.

Gentle Deer Walk for Limited Mobility

Enjoying the outdoors is an important experience for everyone, regardless of your physical capabilities. Based on feedback from our visitors, this deer walk has been designed specifically to support those with limited mobility in enjoying a gentle walk and talk with the Rangers to see Tatton's Red and Fallow deer....and perhaps even some fawns! There is just as much information and deer sighting opportunities as our usual deer walks, but with a shorter, carefully planned route enjoyed at a gentle pace. This event must be pre-booked. Summer’s nearly here and what better way to get you’re toddler interested in fabulously fresh food than a trip to Tatton Park's walled garden to pick your own ingredients for a delicious seasonal recipe. Picking your own fruit and vegetables is the best way to get the freshest and most delicious foods from field to fork and children get to see first hand how they are produced. These popular sessions will run for 90 minutes as parents and carers help their toddler pick fresh ingredients from Tatton's Walled Garden to create easy-to-make recipes in the Victorian Still Room.
